We use your information to deliver the services you request, route your file to the appropriate licensed tax or accounting partner, communicate about your account, process payments, respond to your inquiries, and comply with our legal and regulatory obligations. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. Document handling and retention
MarketWise Tax operates a secure pass-through model for sensitive documents. Files uploaded to your client portal are encrypted in transit using TLS and forwarded to the licensed tax or accounting partner assigned to your engagement. Once successfully delivered, uploaded documents are deleted from MarketWise Tax systems within 48 hours.
Records that we are legally required to retain (such as engagement records, billing history, and communications relevant to a filed return) are kept for the periods required by applicable law, then securely destroyed.
4. Third-party partners
We share the minimum information necessary with licensed tax and accounting partners who perform preparation, filing, and bookkeeping work on your behalf. We also use trusted service providers for hosting, authentication, payment processing, analytics, and customer communication. These providers are contractually required to protect your information and may use it only to perform services for us.
5. Security
We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, role-based access controls, and authenticated portal access. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to maintain a high security standard.
